My Experience
-
In recent years I’ve worked as a freelance and for tech startups, focusing chiefly on architectural design of digital systems and products. Over the last two years, I’ve also focused on a self education regime of AI technology, achieving certification in Prompt Engineering from Vanderbilt University, and pursuing several projects, including my own creation, the multi-agent powered digital production framework I call DPMA.

Spending the previous 5 years working in various product channels prepared me for a diversity of projects once I joined State Farm as an employee. Initially designing solutions for internal power users, I transitioned to customer-focused projects in such areas as Claims, Banking, Health and Life Insurance. Utilizing Design Thinking methodologies including journey mapping and user-empathy studies, I helped transform the main navigational scheme of statefarm.com to prioritize user wants and needs and helped implement a rework of many of the top-level site destinations and their content.

I relocated to the new UX Center of Excellence in Atlanta to continue work with agent- and internal-facing projects., now in the role of User Experience Architect, where I designed the functional flow and specific UI functionalities for various products. I developed fully-functioned prototypes for areas such as the Profile and Preferences section of StateFarm.com®, including new Electronic (Paperless) Preferences. My team and I also redesigned a number of Agent- and internal-facing applications to bring them onto current platform standards and unify their combined functionalities into a single-UI experience that streamlined the work of many Sales Leaders, support staff and others. I also supported the UXCoE in designing standard-compliant templates and library artifacts for software such as Axure, Sketch and other design tools.

At State Farm headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, I was involved with building and maintaining UI designs of the life insurance application, as well as mobile app design and prototyping. This involved using responsive templates within a system of design standards implemented with a top-down UX approach for both wireframes and comps..
In this position I was also responsible for functions such as revision tracking, requirements gathering, analysis, and acceptance testing for internal business clients. -
I was the lead UX/UI designer on the first Deloitte intranet, containing more than 75 web-based and mobile applications that support Deloitte’s consulting, tax, financial services, HR, and audit operations. I also led the design for dozens of internal applications, involving wireframing, prototyping and user testing in both Waterfall and Scrum production environments. I was responsible for piloting new technologies, establishing UI design standards, and implementing new processes and methodologies to keep pace with the increasing demand for UX services. I served in the in-house mentoring program for new hires and interns, providing professional guidance, advice, and support.
Major services and skills practiced:
• UX design: website and application design, project documentation, design patterns and standards, and style guides.
• Low- and high-fidelity prototypes: static wireframes and mockups, interactive mockups, and HTML prototypes.
• Mobile and responsive design (particularly for iPad).
• User research and usability testing.
• Translating key business requirements and user needs into a compelling user experience.
• Thorough working experience with Agile (Scrum) methodology for application development.

I designed web interfaces, 3D models and animation for a variety of projects, including various company sites, multimedia intros and branding. Lead the in-house team that provided formal training to graphics professionals throughout the firm, including course development and instruction for classes and regional seminars, including such software as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash.

I designed magazine advertisements, business ID and branding, logos, document layouts and 3D graphics for print and web.
